After a long absence of three weeks, we come back for a new post on the blog. So, today, we would like to talk about the aesthetics of the game again. Just a short post but to show you the evolution of two characters, very important, the parents of Franz Kafka.
Kafka had a father, Hermann, who was an authoritarian man, and a mother, shy and erased if we compared this woman to her husband. So, at first the global idea was to create a game with a cartoon aesthetics but step by step we understood that it wasn’t the good direction. The contrast between the funny faces and the plot which is more like a drama was a problem.
So, recently, Alfoux decided to redesign the sprites of the characters. As you can see, we conserve a very simple design but less cartoon than before. And, important, we’ll change the color of the hair of the parents because you’ll see the couple at the beginning of the game (around 30) and later with 10 years more, so…

Après une longue absence de trois semaines, nous revenons avec un nouveau billet pour le blog. Aujourd’hui, nous voulions vous parler de l’esthétique du jeu une fois encore. Petit message pour vous montrer l’évolution de deux personnages importants : les parents de Kafka.
Kafka eut un père, Hermann, qui fut un homme autoritaire et une mère, timide et effacé si on la compare à son mari. Donc, au début, nous voulions utiliser une esthétique cartoon, voir précédent article, mais petit à petit nous comprîmes que ce n’était pas la bonne direction. En effet, le contraste entre cette faces souriantes et l’histoire, qui est plus un drame, posait problème.
Donc, récemment, Alfoux décida de redessiner les sprites des personnages. Comme vous pouvez le voir, nous conservons un design très simple mais moins cartoon qu’avant. Et, important, nous changerons la couleur des cheveux des parents au fur et à mesure de l’avancement dans le jeu car on verra le couple au début, à trois environ, et plus tard avec 10 ans de plus.
